Grammar Point:
The word 確實确实 quèshí in Chinese is an adverb that means “indeed” or “truly.” It is often used to emphasize the truth or accuracy of a statement.

Cockroaches do indeed fear soap.

FYI
Cockroaches, like many insects, have a waxy outer layer on their exoskeleton that helps prevent them from losing water. Soap, which is a surfactant, can disrupt this waxy layer and make it difficult for cockroaches to retain moisture. When soap comes into contact with a cockroach, it can interfere with their ability to regulate water, leading to dehydration. This is why cockroaches may avoid or be repelled by soap. So, the next time you spot these critters in your kitchen, you can play a little prank on them with some soapy water. It’s like their kryptonite! 🦸‍♂️🪳😄

OneDotDot Chinese

Whenever I ask foreigners, "Do you speak Chinese?" they often reply, "a little bit" (yì diǎn diǎn). That inspired me to create this website and translate "yì diǎn diǎn" into the quirky and fun "One Dot Dot."

It’s also a reminder that learning Chinese is a journey, and progress happens one step at a time. By learning just a little bit every day, you’ll go far!
