将 jiāng — Using 将 jiāng to Express 把 bǎ

将 jiāng can do the same job as 把 bǎ — moving the object to emphasize the handling or disposition of it.

The difference is register:将 jiāng is formal and written, while 把 bǎ is what you’d actually say out loud.

Using 將/将 jiāng to express 把 bǎ

If 把 bǎ still feels new, it’s worth reading that structure first — 将 jiāng follows the exact same rules, just in a more formal outfit.

1 Structure

Subject + 将 jiāng + Object + Verb + Complement/Result

Every 把 bǎ pattern you already know works the same way with 将 jiāng — same object placement, same “something after the verb” rule.

他tā将jiāng书shū丢了diūle
He threw away the book.
妹妹mèimei将jiāng书shū放置在fàngzhìzài桌子上zhuōzishàng
My sister put the book on the table.
我wǒ不想bùxiǎng将jiāng礼物lǐwù给予jǐyǔ他tā
I don’t want to give him a gift.
将jiāng钱qián全部quánbù拿出来náchūlái
Take out all the money.

2 将 jiāng vs. 把 bǎ

Same structure, different setting — 将 jiāng belongs on forms, signs, and official notices; 把 bǎ is what you’d say to a friend.

Written — 将 jiāng

3 Common Mistakes

Go wash the dishes. Casual, everyday commands like this sound stiff and out of place with 将 jiāng — 把 bǎ is the natural spoken choice here.
