Wugang fagui

“Wugang fagui” is a story for HSK2+ learners. Stories I shared some are Chinese folk tales, and some are my creations. 

This story is one of the most famous stories associated with the Moon Festival. However, there are three different versions of it, each with slight variations. So, if you hear a different story, don’t be surprised.

很久hěnjiǔ以前yǐqián有yǒu一位yíwèi叫jiào吳剛Wúgāng的de男人nánrén， 他的tāde力氣lìqì非常fēicháng大dà， 可是kěshì一點yìdiǎn耐心nàixīn也yě沒有méiyǒu。 很久hěnjiǔ以前yǐqián有yǒu一位yíwèi叫jiào吴刚Wúgāng的de男人nánrén， 他的tāde力气lìqi非常fēicháng大dà， 可是kěshì一点yìdiǎn耐心nàixīn也yě没有méiyǒu。

吳剛Wúgāng想xiǎng， 我的wǒde力氣lìqì這麽zhèmo大dà， 我wǒ不bù應該yīnggāi當dāng人rén， 我wǒ應該yīnggāi當dāng神shén。 吴刚Wúgāng想xiǎng， 我的wǒde力气lìqi这麽zhèmo大dà， 我wǒ不bù应该yìnggāi当dāng人rén， 我wǒ应该yìnggāi当dāng神shén。

所以suǒyǐ他tā跑pǎo到dào山上shānshàng去qù找zhǎo神shén， 希望xīwàng神shén能néng教jiāo他tā怎麼zěnme變成biànchéng神shén。 所以suǒyǐ他tā跑pǎo到dào山上shānshàng去qù找zhǎo神shén， 希望xīwàng神shén能néng教jiāo他tā怎么zěnme变成biànchéng神shén。

神shén說shuō： 「 你nǐ要yào當dāng神shén就要jiùyào救人jiùrén， 你nǐ要yào救人jiùrén， 就要jiùyào認識rènshì藥草yàocǎo。 去qù採cǎi300 種zhǒng藥草yàocǎo回來huílái吧ba！ 」 神shén说shuō： “ 你nǐ要yào当dāng神shén就要jiùyào救人jiùrén， 你nǐ要yào救人jiùrén， 就要jiùyào认识rènshi药草yàocǎo。 去qù采cǎi300 种zhǒng药草yàocǎo回来huílái吧ba！ ”

吳剛Wúgāng說shuō： 「 這zhè簡單jiǎndān，，沒問題méiwèntí！ 」 吴刚Wúgāng说shuō： “ 这zhè简单jiǎndān， 没问题méiwèntí！ ”

但是dànshì吳剛Wúgāng採cǎi了le100 種zhǒng藥草yàocǎo後hòu， 就jiù沒méi耐心nàixīn了le。 但是dànshì吴刚Wúgāng采cǎi了le100 种zhǒng药草yàocǎo后hòu， 就jiù没méi耐心nàixīn了le。

「 我wǒ放棄fàngqì！ 」 吳剛Wúgāng跟gēn神shén說shuō採cǎi藥草yàocǎo太tài沒意思méiyìsi了le， 有沒有yǒuméiyǒu別的biéde方法fāngfǎ可以kěyǐ當神dāngshén？ “ 我wǒ放弃fàngqì！ ” 吴刚Wúgāng跟gēn神shén说shuō采cǎi药草yàocǎo太tài没意思méiyìsi了le， 有没有yǒuméiyǒu别的biéde方法fāngfǎ可以kěyǐ当神dāngshén？

神shén說shuō： 「 你nǐ要yào當dāng神shén就要jiùyào有yǒu知識zhīshì。 你nǐ把bǎ這zhè本běn書shū全部quánbù背bèi下來xiàlái吧ba！ 」 神shén说shuō： “ 你nǐ要yào当dāng神shén就要jiùyào有yǒu知识zhīshi。 你nǐ把bǎ这zhè本běn书shū全部quánbù背bèi下来xiàlái吧ba！ ”

吳剛Wúgāng說shuō： 「 這zhè簡單jiǎndān，，沒問題méiwèntí！ 」 吴刚Wúgāng说shuō： “ 这zhè简单jiǎndān， 没问题méiwèntí！ ”

Wugang Fagui English Translation

A long time ago, there was a man named Wu Gang who was very strong but had no patience. Wu Gang thought, “My strength is so great, I should not be just a human, I should be a god.” So he went to the mountains to find a god, hoping the god could teach him how to become a god.

The god said, “If you want to be a god, you must save people. To save people, you must know about herbs. Go and collect 300 types of herbs.” Wu Gang said, “That’s easy, no problem!” But after collecting 100 types of herbs, Wu Gang lost his patience. “I give up!” Wu Gang told the god that collecting herbs was too boring, and asked if there was another way to become a god.

The god said, “If you want to be a god, you must have knowledge. Memorize this entire book.” Wu Gang said, “That’s easy, no problem!” But after memorizing 10 pages, Wu Gang lost his patience. “I give up!” Wu Gang told the god that memorizing the book took too much time, and asked if there was another way to become a god.
