Story
「我不是這個意思，我的意思是我沒想到你會說話。」我不好意思地解釋。“我不是这个意思，我的意思是我没想到你会说话。”我不好意思地解释。
啾啾，五色鳥笑著說：「你為什麼驚訝？鸚鵡都會說人話了，我當然也能說。」啾啾，五色鸟笑着说：“你为什么惊讶？鹦鹉都会说人话了，我当然也能说。”
我想了一想覺得很有道理，但是又好像不太對。我想了一想觉得很有道理，但是又好像不太对。
「大家都知道鸚鵡會說話，但是我沒聽過五色鳥會說話。」我說出了我的疑惑。“大家都知道鹦鹉会说话，但是我没听过五色鸟会说话。”我说出了我的疑惑。
五色鳥用力地在我身上跳了一下：「大家說什麼，你就信什麼嗎？你不應該只聽別人說，要自己去看看。」五色鸟用力地在我身上跳了一下：“大家说什么，你就信什么吗？你不应该只听别人说，要自己去看看。”
「我也想自己去看看，可是旅行需要好多錢和時間，這兩個我都沒有。」我玩著我的頭髮。“我也想自己去看看，可是旅行需要好多钱和时间，这两个我都没有。”我玩着我的头发。
「你為什麼沒有時間？」五色鳥飛回窗前，開始整理自己的羽毛。“你为什么没有时间？”五色鸟飞回窗前，开始整理自己的羽毛。
English Translation
“That’s not what I meant. I meant that I didn’t expect you to be able to talk,” I explained self-consciously.
Chirp chirp! The Taiwan barbet chuckled and said, “Why are you surprised? Even parrots can speak human language, so of course I can too.”
I thought about it for a moment and felt it made sense, but it also somehow felt not quite right.
“Everyone knows parrots can talk, but I’ve never heard of a Taiwan barbet that can talk,” I voiced my confusion.
The bird hopped hard on me once: “Do you just believe whatever everyone says? You shouldn’t just listen to what others say; you should go and see for yourself.”
“I want to go see for myself too, but traveling takes a lot of money and time, and I have neither,” I said, twirling my hair.
“Why don’t you have time?” The bird flew back to the window sill and began preening its feathers.
