Grammar Point:
In Chinese, the movement marker 到 dào is used to indicate the completion or arrival of an action or movement to a particular destination.

Structure

S + 到 dào + Place + (Do what)

It’s often used with verbs of motion, such as 來来 lái (to come), 去 qù (to go), or other action verbs indicating movement, to show the completion of the action toward a location.

我們wǒmen到dào陽明山yángmíngshān泡pào溫泉wēnquán好hǎo嗎ma? 我们wǒmen到dào阳明山yángmíngshān泡pào温泉wēnquán好hǎo吗ma?

I heard Jay Chou will go to the United States tomorrow.

FYI
Jay Chou is a Taiwanese musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, and director who is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the Chinese music industry. Some of his most famous songs include “青花瓷” (Blue and White Porcelain), “稻香” (Rice Fragrance), “夜曲” (Night’s Song), and many more. Even though I think his songs sound great, his pronunciation is really not clear. So, if you can’t understand what he’s singing, please don’t feel bad—it’s not your fault.

OneDotDot Chinese

Whenever I ask foreigners, "Do you speak Chinese?" they often reply, "a little bit" (yì diǎn diǎn). That inspired me to create this website and translate "yì diǎn diǎn" into the quirky and fun "One Dot Dot."

It’s also a reminder that learning Chinese is a journey, and progress happens one step at a time. By learning just a little bit every day, you’ll go far!
