Both Taiwan and China are located in seismically active regions and experience earthquakes frequently. Taiwan is located on the boundary of the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate, and is therefore prone to earthquakes caused by the subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate under the Eurasian Plate. China is also located on the boundary of several tectonic plates, and experiences earthquakes caused by the collision and movement of these plates.
In recent years, both Taiwan and China have experienced several significant earthquakes. In Taiwan, the most destructive earthquake in recent history was the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake, which caused widespread damage and loss of life. In China, the 2008 Sichuan earthquake was a devastating earthquake that claimed over 80,000 lives and caused extensive damage.
Both Taiwan and China have implemented measures to improve earthquake preparedness and response, including building earthquake-resistant buildings, conducting earthquake drills, and improving earthquake monitoring and early warning systems.
