20 Yoga Poses in Chinese
瑜珈體式瑜伽体式
A reference sheet of pose names, grouped by family so they’re easier to remember than one long list — standing, balance, core, backbends, folds and twists, hip openers and inversions, and seated/restorative poses — plus the equipment you’ll see around the studio. Where Taiwan and mainland China use genuinely different names, both are given. Tap the speaker icon to hear a pose name read aloud.

眼罩眼罩Studio Culture Notes
“Corpse” sounds too negative in traditional Chinese culture, so teachers usually call it “final relaxation pose” or simply Savasana instead of using the literal translation.
Taipei has both chain studios and small private studios. Chain studios tend to run bigger classes (20–40 people) and offer a wider range of styles — hot yoga, Hatha, Aerial, Vinyasa, and more — at a more affordable price. Private studios keep classes small (4–8 people) with more individual attention.
Major Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou have a similar mix of studios, often offering the same range of styles plus meditation and other wellness classes; some incorporate elements of traditional Chinese medicine as well.
