Most of the time 剛好刚好 gānghǎo works just like 正好正好 zhènghǎo. But it has one extra meaning that 正好正好 zhènghǎo doesn’t: “barely, only just.”

In conversation you’ll often hear 剛剛好刚刚好 gānggāng hǎo. Doubling 剛刚 gāng makes it sound warmer and more satisfied: “just perfect!”
不多不少,剛剛好!不多不少,刚刚好!
Not too much, not too little. Just perfect!
S + 剛好刚好 gānghǎo + V: “barely, only just”
This is the meaning that sets 剛好刚好 gānghǎo apart: something reached the minimum, with no room to spare.

💡 Good to Know
In most sentences you can swap the two freely: 我正好要出門我正好要出门 and 我剛好要出門我刚好要出门 mean the same thing. Only when you mean “barely” do you need 剛好刚好 gānghǎo.
