  • 格外 géwài – particularly or especially. It is often used in formal or literary contexts.
  • 极 jí- extremely. It is often used in formal spoken language like news.
  • 极其 jíqí – extremely. It is often used in formal or literary contexts. It also usually go with two-character adjectives.

She particularly likes this gift.

这zhè次cì的deHSK4 考试kǎoshì格外géwài难nán
The HSK4 exam this time was especially difficult.
