Three of these four have a fixed partner: 挺挺 tǐng usually closes with 的的 de, 越越 yuè often appears twice in a row, and 極极 jí is almost always followed by 了了 le.
1 挺挺 tǐng — Casual “Pretty / Quite”
A spoken, friendly way to say “pretty” or “quite.” It almost always ends the sentence with 的的 de: 挺挺 tǐng + Adjective + 的的 de.
這家店的咖啡挺好喝的这家店的咖啡挺好喝的
This shop’s coffee is pretty good.
他人挺不錯的他人挺不错的
He’s a pretty nice person.
今天天氣挺涼快的今天天气挺凉快的
The weather today is quite cool.
2 有些有些 yǒuxiē — “Somewhat”
A slightly more formal cousin of 有一點有一点 yǒuyìdiǎn, often heard in writing or more careful speech.
這個問題有些複雜这个问题有些复杂
This problem is somewhat complicated.
我今天有些累我今天有些累
I’m somewhat tired today.
他的態度有些冷淡他的态度有些冷淡
His attitude is somewhat cold.
3 越越 yuè — “More and More”
Tracks a degree that keeps changing: 越越 yuè 來来 lái 越越 yuè + Adjective (“increasingly”), or 越越 A 越越 B (“the more A, the more B”). This is just a quick overview — for a more detailed structural breakdown, see 越來越 / 越…越… in depth.
天氣越來越冷了天气越来越冷了
The weather is getting colder and colder.

4 極极 jí — “Extremely”
A stronger, more formal-sounding intensifier. It comes after the adjective, almost always closed off with 了了 le: Adjective + 極极 jí + 了了 le.
這家餐廳的牛排好吃極了这家餐厅的牛排好吃极了
This restaurant’s steak is extremely delicious.
他高興極了他高兴极了
He was extremely happy.
這裡的風景美極了这里的风景美极了
The scenery here is extremely beautiful.

5 Common Mistakes
Two easy slips: dropping 了了 le after 極极 jí, and using only one 越越 yuè when the pattern needs two.

極极 jí almost never appears without a closing 了了 le — without it, the sentence sounds cut off.

The “the more…the more” pattern needs 越越 yuè in both halves. Swapping the first one for 多多 duō breaks the paired structure.
