Office Words in Chinese

辦公室詞彙办公室词汇 bàngōngshì cíhuì

Before we get into the vocab, here’s a little secret: people nap at noon. Work hours in China and Taiwan can run long, so employers are generally fine with a 30-minute-ish nap to help everyone recharge. To make that nap longer, most people in Taiwan bring a packed lunch or heat up something quick rather than going out. Sandwiches aren’t a popular lunch choice either — cold food isn’t appealing here. Traditional Chinese medicine also holds that keeping the stomach warm helps avoid wasting energy.
