Don’t forget when two 3rd together, the first 3rd tone changes to the 2nd tone.
If it’s multiple 3rd tones, you need to find out which two characters are in a pair, and then change the tones before you link the whole sentence.
For example:Wǒ yǒu liǎng bǎ xiǎo yǔ sǎn

Wǒyǒuliǎngbǎxiǎoyǔsǎn
Step 1: Break the sentence into wordsIhavetwo (+measure word)smallumbrellas
Step 2: change tones in a wordWǒyǒuliángbǎxiǎoyúsǎn
Step 3: Check the rest words
If there’re two 3rd tones, change it
Wóyǒuliángbáxiǎoyúsǎn
Final step:

OneDotDot Chinese

Whenever I ask foreigners, "Do you speak Chinese?" they often reply, "a little bit" (yì diǎn diǎn). That inspired me to create this website and translate "yì diǎn diǎn" into the quirky and fun "One Dot Dot."

It’s also a reminder that learning Chinese is a journey, and progress happens one step at a time. By learning just a little bit every day, you’ll go far!
