Before we look up the location words in Chinese, let me give you a brief introduction of two words. 公寓(gōngyù) in Chinese usually indicated a no elevator low building. I don’t know why we translate it into the English word “apartment,” but anyway they are not the same. Another word that I want to talk about is “xiāngxia.” In Taiwan, if it is not a big city, we all call it xiāngxia. So during Chinese New Year, lots of people who work in Taipei will say they are going to xiāngxia. But, if they invite you to go with them, you will realize that they are just going to a smaller city, not the countryside.

Examples
卧室 wòshì is a formal word for bedroom, another word that we use a lot for bedroom is 房間/房间 fángjiān.
我媽媽家有5間臥室3間浴室
我妈妈家有5间卧室3间浴室
Wǒ māmajiā yǒu 5 jiān wòshì 3 jiān yùshì.
My mother’s house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
我家住在這棟大樓的18樓
我家住在这栋大楼的18楼
Wǒ jiā zhù zài zhèdòng dàlóu de 18 lóu.
My family lives on the 18th floor of the building.

For church, we have two different words. 教堂 jiàotáng is a Catholic Church and 教会 jiàohuì is a Christian Church.
